Remembering Sacrifices

Today we went and visited the beautiful American Military Cemetery outside of Manila. It is set on 152 beautiful acres that used to be part of an American military base. There are over 17,000 dead buried there, over 4,000 of which are not identified. It is the largest American military cemetery in acreage and honored dead. Thousands more are honored whose bodies were never found in the fighting in the Pacific during World War II. I had a grandfather who served with the Navy in the Pacific and thankfully he made it home alright. There is a good chance that he might have known some who are buried there today. In today's turbulent world it is always nice to visit places that help us remember the sacrifices prior generations have made to give us the great blessings and freedoms we enjoy.
