Hiroshima to Kyoto via Himegi Castle

On Sunday after Church we left Hiroshima for Kyoto. We took the Shinkansen, or fast train, until our first stop in Himegi to visit the most famous castle in Japan. This was my first time on a fast train (about 250 km/hr) and it was very comfortable and quiet for as fast as the countryside was passing outside the window.

At Himegi we walked across town to the castle and went through the whole tour. The big extension was paid for with some girl's marriage dowry 400 years ago, talk about marrying into money. The castle was really cool and set on a hill overlooking the whole city. I got to talk some Cantonese with a couple Chinese tourists from Australia so that was fun. It is amazing what things they built over here back in the day of feifdoms and serfs. The castle was pretty big and tons of rock was moved to make it possible.

When we got to Kyoto in the evening we visited our hostel to check-in and drop our stuff before walking around Kyoto and heading to bed very tired.
