So over here in Japan they have a fair amount of deer I guess. Or at least many of their temple/shrines grounds and public parks do. At 3 of the places we've visited there were dozens of deer just walking around civilization intermingling with the people. This made me think of my niece and nephew who would love the big petting zoo I guess you could call it. Also, while at the Golden Pagoda there were lots of fish in the lake, including some brightly-colored ones that were very beautiful. So this blog entry is for Hutton and Layton, who would have loved to see those sights.
As for my weak attempt to pet the deer, I did better a couple days later when we ran into another pack. They were real nice and very domesticaed. I got one on its neck and ears. Another deer stood literally one foot from a man's food cart trying to beg the man for food or steal some when he looked away at the customers. It was comical, like a dog giving that sad, take care of me look, but it was a deer. The man even pushed the thing to make it go away and he just came right back to the cart. Guess you had to be there to see it.
