Getting Around the Phillipines

So I got out of the airport and my friend, Benji, also known as GMIP for Greatest Man in Phillipines, meets me with a big smile and hug. I haven't seen him in over four years since my mission and we only started talking (instant message) again in February, but we were still the best of friends. We got in a taxi and headed off to a bus depot to catch a bus to visit his relatives 2 hours away in a more rural area outside Manila. It took about all of 5 minutes on the streets of Manila to realize I would be totally hopeless for what to do and how to get around this country without Benji. They have an unusual combination of real taxis, megataxis (SUVs), big buses, jeepnys (pictured), Trikes (me in picture), and other auto-based transports.
The streets are generously described as organized chaos, but they are interesting and would be fun to drive on. My dad nearly running people over in the ASU parking lot after football games but on a much grander scale comes to mind. I love riding on the Trikes but that is more for rural parts, not Manila. We go to the beach on Monday so maybe I will get another ride then.
